Founded in 2009, Suntrace supports the development and realization of large-scale solar projects on an international scale. In addition to governments and research institutions, Suntrace mainly provides advice to project developers. Its engineers develop concepts how various PV or CSP technologies could provide best site-specific electricity or heat production and support technically in realizing projects. Its finance division advises how to find solutions for realizing the projects. Currently, Suntrace is particularly active in Latin America and Southern Africa. In total, Suntrace experts have supported over 1.5 GW of solar projects in 15 different countries.
Suntrace has branches and joint ventures in India, Spain, South Africa and Chile, and local cooperation partners in Mexico, Brazil, Morocco and Namibia. Suntrace offers a broad range of consulting services, which, in addition to engineering expertise, also covers support for project finance.
Suntrace has particular experience in solar resource assessment due to its work in standardization committees, be it through the German DKE working group on solar radiation, headed by Suntrace CTO Dr. Richard Meyer, or through contributions of Suntrace staff to
IEC, ISO and IEA expert groups. In cooperation with DLR and Fraunhofer ISE, new measuring instruments are developed, tested and approved. Suntrace is supporting the Indian government with the surveillance of 115 measuring stations similar to the HelioScale Omega system. Suntrace has installed RSI measuring systems and pyranometers all over the world - from Mongolia, Indonesia and South Africa to Chile.
